Trapping AsPh3 via reaction with NiS/?-Al2O3 in the presence of H2: Reaction mechanism and kinetics

Removal of As from petroleum feedstocks is an important process which can be realized using trapping mass containing supported nickel sulfide. In order to understand the mechanism we studied reaction AsPh3 with NiS/?-Al2O3 in presence H2 a batch reactor toluene solution at 230 °C. This results formation NiAs, benzene and H2S. Also, intermediate species, thiophenol diphenylsulfide, were observed. Despite NiAs layer course reaction, rate decomposition not affected by solid state diffusion up ? 50 % conversion. The determining step these conditions appears hydrogenolysis As-C bonds. It was found that changes zero one. trend described kinetic model assuming adsorption molecules followed decomposition.
